As it passed through these countries, Hurricane Melissa was classified as a Category 4 or 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

Its maximum sustained winds reached 82 meters per second.According to the latest data from the US National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Melissa passed through the Bahamas and is moving deep into the Atlantic Ocean. It has now weakened to a post-tropical cyclone.
