Earth is set to experience its third major geomagnetic storm of the year on November‍11, 2025.‍

The Russian Solar Astronomy Laboratory has warned of geomagnetic storms affecting Earth between November 11 and 12, including a powerful G4-class storm, with a chance of seeing the aurora borealis.

The laboratory reported that Earth will be affected by geomagnetic storms between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, as a result of solar plasma clouds approaching our planet.

These storms are expected to include a very strong G4-class storm

the third of its kind in 2025.According to the report, two plasma emissions resulting from solar flares that occurred on November 9 and 10 will impact Earth on November 11 and 12.

The first eruption is expected to be felt on November 11 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM Moscow time, causing G1 and G2-class geomagnetic storms, with a chance of seeing the aurora borealis in the eastern hemisphere.

The second eruption is expected to occur Tuesday night or Wednesday morning and could lead to a G4-class geomagnetic storm. The report notes that Earth has only experienced G4-class storms twice this year, once in January and again in early June.Experts confirmed that the possibility of the storm reaching G5 is extremely unlikely, as such storms only occur under very exceptional circumstances.

Geomagnetic storms form on Earth as a result of increased solar activity.

They can disrupt power grids and affect the migration patterns of birds and animals.

Strong geomagnetic storms can also impact communication and navigation systems.

The intensity of these storms is divided into five categories based on the disturbances in Earth's magnetic field, ranging from G1 (weak) to G5 (very strong).
